A devastating fire outbreak occurred around the small entrance of the University of Education, Winneba, near YENUA Street, in the early hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025. The fire ravaged several shops, leaving owners counting their losses.

Eyewitnesses reported that the fire started in the dawn, but the fire officers arrived late, allegedly due to the faulty fire thunder at the Winneba Fire Service. This delay exacerbated the situation, allowing the fire to spread and cause more damage.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but investigations are underway. The Ghana National Fire Service are working to assess the damage. The incident has raised concerns about the preparedness and response of the fire service in emergency situations. The faulty fire thunder at the Winneba Fire Service has been cited as a major factor contributing to the delayed response.
