    Assin South: 15 Assemblymembers, 3 others granted ¢5,000 bail each over cursing Central Regional Minister,

    Today, in the Assin North Magistrate court ,15 Assemblymembers, 3 others granted ¢5,000 bail each over cursing Central Regional Minister, Regional Police Commander, DCE for Assin South, Divisional police commander etc.

    It will be recalled that 15 Assemblymembers within the Assin South District Assembly evoked curses on Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan, Deputy Central Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Denis Abade, Assin South DCE, Ms Felicia Ntrakwa Amissah, Assin Fosu Divisional Commander, ACP Augustine Luguyare and others to wit ” the gods should deal with you and used you to pacify the gods” for allegedly preventing them from exercising their voting right in the recent DCE elections.

    They were put before Fante Nyankomase Magistrate court, presided over by His Worship Samuel Etsie Junior. They were charged with offensive conduct and breach of peace and likely to breach public peace.

    The 18 suspects pleaded not guilty after the case has been presented to them.

    However, the court granted the case to be settled at home after the chief of Assin Nsuaem where the incident occurred Nana Kwabena Wadie III pleaded for out of court settlement

    Meanwhile, Nana Kwabena Wadie told Kwame Owusu Asante Shadrack that he wanted peace to prevail for the sake of the development of Assin South hence such a step.

    The Assin South District police commander, DSP Francis Andam Okyere, advised that both parties in the case should comply with the rules of the court. He disclosed the court granted them bail to the tune of ¢5,000 cedis with 2 sureties.

    Meanwhile, Mr. Aaron Owusu, who spoke on behalf of the suspects said Assin South must be developed therefore they will reverse the curse, however, NPP must desist from intimidating whoever does not side with them.
