The Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency and Deputy Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin, has called on politicians to gather courage to speak about their challenges than keeping it for fear of loosing votes.
“We are lacking the courage to provide the necessary orientation that will help the nation, various governments have done what is necessary, but lack of political will is causing Ghana to go down, ” he stressed.

The member of Parliament said these yesterday in Winneba, at the 2022,2023, Effutu Municipal Teachers Awards.
According to him his wish is to support his constituents to succeed in life inrespective of party affiliation. However, some constituents take advantage of these help and abuse it, describing it as not good.

He said some who were giving money to trade wasted it, those giving cars for work and pay same, whilst others who falsely requested to go into artisanship, connived with some masters to take the money and share.

Whilst thanking the teachers for their efforts over the years, he noted that if parents fail to collaborate with teachers to put educational infrastructures, especially libraries into use its construction will be of no use.

The Effutu Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Judith Michah, described education as a shared responsibility, which the efforts of the teacher is indispensable.
“Teaching has always been considered as a noble profession, and no good teacher looks for their own successes and endeavor, but will always have their learners present and future in mind,” she added.

According to her the teaching profession requires commitment, perseverance, honesty, integrity, discipline, role modelling and mentoring, adding that these attributes are not easy to acquire and internalize let alone impacting them to others.

It was for these reasons she said, the Teachers Awards was set up to help motivate teachers.
