EFFUTU MCE ENGAGES TRANSPORT UNION EXECUTIVES IN THE MUNIIPALITY

Municipal Chief Executive for Effutu, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim has met the various Transport Union executives in the Municipality to discuss issues pertaining to their operations and jointly plan how they can address their challenges as well as ensuring compliance of the decisions taken to guide their operations.
Issues discussed included On-street activities, Illegal loading points especially at the Winneba Round -About, Revenue Generation of the Assembly, Weak Enforcement Activities as well as security concerns amidst threats of terrorism.
On the issue of security concerns, Hon. Zubairu Kassim, said terrorism threats in the West African sub-region had evolved to a point where reliance on only conventional tactics and strategies to combat it was ineffective.
According to him recent developments in Ghana’s neighboring countries where terrorist attacks keep spreading with loss of lives and property called for a concerted effort by leadership and the need to implement more preventive measures to forestall any occurrence in the country.
Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, explained that the involvement of the citizenry to support the state security with information on happenings in their localities, where the terrorists were likely to hide and commit their outrageous crimes, was essential and also made it easy for the state security agencies to identify and subsequently arrest such criminals with ease. He called on transport operators in Winneba to be Security Conscious and report suspicious characters to the security agencies for prompt action to prevent such incidents in the area.
He was particularly not happy about illegal loading points springing up within the Winneba township whiles cautioning that the Municipal Assembly would soon embark on series of operations to deal ruthlessly with miscreants who flout the laws by engaging in illegal and unauthorized loading in Winneba.
Hon. Zubairu Kassim entreated the transport operators to support the Assembly’s revenue mobilization efforts by paying the tolls required of them to aid its development process.
On her part the Presiding Member for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Elizabeth Senah, appealed to the operators and Unions in Winnaba to help improve the transport system and inject professionalism to enhance customer experience.
