The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) today November 18, held a ceremony at the Mudor Conference Center of the Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra and the purpose was to officially launch their website, National belts and to also unveil a car for the GBA.
The event was graced by The Ag. Deputy Director General Technical,(NSA) Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr. who represented the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA),Prof. Peter Twumasi, some dignitaries, board members and Prominent Ex and Present boxers of the GBA as well.
The President of the GBA, Mr. Abraham Kotei Neequaye in his opening address, stated that, these three components are very essential in the realization of their vision and purpose of boxing in Ghana and has always been his dream to implement ideas that would promote the Boxing Authority which he is elated to have this very one come to pass.
He further stated that, his utmost agenda, is to consider the welfare of the active boxers, their trainers and coaches.
Therefore, he is looking forward to establishing a desk for the marketing and communication department as well because such an administrative set up would add up to an effective administration among officers of the GBA and stakeholders.
He commended all the former GBA administrators for laying the foundation for his administration to build on and thanked the promoters, match makers, boxers, ring official and others who have contributed immensely for their continuous support towards the change they are expecting for the GBA.
He concluded by urging the stakeholders to respect the rules and regulations of the GBA to help eliminate behavior and attitude retarding the progress of the sports.
The Deputy Director General Technical, Mr. Kwame Amponfi Jnr, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the Director General of NSA for the opportunity given him to serve on his behalf and also stated that, the NSA is proud of the GBA for how far they have come within a short period of nurturing such initiative into reality and also mentioned that, the Director General is very much enthused with the Federation leadership on how developmental and visionary they have been.
He assured the President of the GBA of a good project report from the NSA because it is a progressive project thus, the initiative of mobility, access to communication & research, yardstick for measurement training, to generate good boxers with the idea of the additional ten (10) ‘’national belts’’ which would serve as competitions to bring out great boxers in the fraternity.
He added that, the focus of every sports, is the product and boxing is the product of sports, hence, their training models and everything about it should be measured which the leadership has put in all thoughts that there need be, to spring developmental and promotional activities to the Federation, hence the NSA is grateful for their liberal thoughts ahead of the federation to make things possible.
