    GNAT raises red flag on CAGD’s “Government workers without Ghana Cards will not be paid statement”

    The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has said the directives of the Controller and Accountant General Department demanding a Ghana Card from government workers including teachers before payment is uncalled for.

    Mr. Prosper Takyi, Ashanti Regional President for GNAT Speaking Angel News Tv News reporter Bismark Mensah said in as much as the Accountant General Department has brought this directive, this is high time Authorities will sit with the government workers to draw a plan because when the Ghana Card registration started, the National Identification Authority made the public aware that another opportunity will be given to those who couldn’t get chance to register at the various District whereas it stands, the regional and district of the NIA is not yet complete.

    The Controller and Accountant General’s Department has made a statement to government workers without Ghana Cards will not be paid from December 1, 2021. as the policy forms part of ongoing measures to harmonize its systems.

    The Department believes that as it continues the synchronization of its financial remuneration process, the card will ensure a speedy administration of the payroll.

    But Mr. Prosper Takyi said the authority should exercise patient while he urged teachers without Ghana cards to make effort to go and register for their Ghana card.
