Joyce Bawah Must Learn; Sand Winning Contributed To Keta’s Disaster

Joyce Bawah Mogtari betrays her intelligence with her fixation on a photo supposed to have been taken at Keta which went viral when the area experienced storm surges, affecting several communities.

Mr. Mahama’s aide says the photo displayed by the Deputy Majority Leader was unfortunate and that it amounted to a serious stab in the face of the victims of the disaster.

These strenuous attempts to obfuscate the real issues confronting the Keta people give credence to the fact that these NDC elements are not oblivious of the ill-treatment they meted out to these people over the years despite their massive support for the NDC.

They only seek to parry the series of serious minds and tongues wagging, asking critical questions about why the NDC has been this wicked to the very people who have been voting for them since time immemorial. In her narrow mind, Joyce Bawah Mogtari ignores the most important issues pertaining to this disaster.

Is she saying that sand winning doesn’t go on in the enclave? Is she discounting the fact that sand winning is not a contributory cause of the tidal waves which troubled the people of Keta?

The bane of Joyce Bawah and her ilks is their laziness in learning and researching. That particular photograph was not originally produced by Afenyo-Markin.

It was, as a matter of fact, captured in a comprehensive paper published by one Ahmed Rufai Adamu and Mr. Kwesi Agyapong.

This picture has been around for a while now and one wonders why Joyce and her team of hypocritically pious scavengers did not find it needful to speak against its usage since they claim it is originally from Sierra Leone.

Let me hasten to emphasize that the picture originally came from a research conducted by Ahmed Rufai Adamu who is lecturer and same was used in the work done by the FourthEstate.

She is a lay person when it comes to these issues just like some of us, and that’s why we rely upon the knowledge of the experts in this field of study.

On Newsfile, the three panelists who shared their views on the matter all indicated that sand winning destroys the natural protection that acts as a barrier against the waves when running towards the land.

They also said that Keta is known for its sand winning activities as these have been going on there for years.

In the light of these, one wonders why Joyce Bawah and her people would be still be talking about a supposed photo from Sierra Leone when the gravamen of the issue has to do with the fact that she and the NDC failed to construct the sea defense wall despite the support they have enjoyed from the people over the years.

They can argue the toss all they please, the irrevocable truth is that the NDC, Mahama and their tradition are to blame for the predicament that befell Keta.
