New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong has described himself as the best candidate the NPP can have as a flagbearer for 2024 elections.
” I am the only one who understands the plights and struggles of the party’s grassroots and also has solutions to Ghana’s problems.
The Assin Central Member of Parliament, said these in Winneba when he met delegates a of the Effutu constituency as part of his visits to various constituencies to officially confirm his readiness to contest the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
He observed that NPP people are not bold to defend the good works of the government, adding Ghanaians are not ready to listen to governments attribution of country’s suffering to COVID 19, and Russian, Ukraine war after being promised a better life during electioneering campaign.
He hinted that some party members are using money to persuade delegates to vote against him, whilst others are describing him as a puddle for another candidate.
According to Hon. Agyapong, some people knowing his high chances of becoming the NPP’s flagbearer in the upcoming primaries are suggesting to him to step down.
Speaking to some party delegates in Winneba, the Assin Central Member of Parliament emphasized his resolve to contest in the flagbearership race, hence, advised delegates to be discerning in their voting decisions in other to vote for a candidate who understands their hardships and problems.
“So, for me, I have hope because I have fought enough for the grassroots,” where were the men when things were difficult in the party and the country at large”, he added.
He maintained that his contribution both in the party and the country is unmatched.
” I have provided mor than 400 cars in Total since 1992, to the party,paid over 400 thousand dollars for the airlifting of Ghanaians from Libya and others, quizzing, “where were the men”.
The NPP Chairman for Effutu Constituency, Supi Kofi Kwayera described the member of Parliament for Assin Central as a grassroot person who understands the plight of party members.
He attributed about 50% of the constituency’s development to the support of Hon Ken Agyapong.
He was hopeful that the constituency will see more support should he become president interns of employment in the security services and infrastructure.
The party chairman on behalf of the delegates declared their total support to the flagbearer hopeful.
The former chairman of the party, Mr. Kojo Halm, assured Hon. Agyapong of a 100% vote in the Effutu constituency, but cautioned any delegate who may try to be a traitor just as it happened in 2016, during the flagbearership election between Nana Addo and Alan K. Kyeremanteng.
He described Assin Foso and Winneba as brothers due to the leadership qualities of the two leaders in the Constituency.
