Ghanaian duo musician Akatakyie is made up of two brothers, Prince Kwabena Budu Asumaning (Kobby Culture) and Ebenezer Kwasi Okyere Asumaning (King Pharoah). They have released several hit songs and has 6 album to their credit and enjoy massive airplay even after almost a decade since their debut.

They came out with their maiden album Odo esisi me in 1999 which won them the Best Hiplife Song award in the maiden edition of the Ghana Music Awards organized in 2000. Subsequent to their first album they came out with Ghana mbaa, Odo esikyire, Yedi aba and their last album Esia these albums all had remarkable hit tracks on them.
All their albums when released in their particular year were nominated for Ghana Music Awards. Since their appearance on the Ghana music industry they have never jumped from one record label to the other, management and their style of music has also not changed. Taking hiplife back; one can say they have really contributed a lot and some call them the real inventors of hiplife that is the fusion of highlife and hip pop.
After going off the music scene for some time, hiplife duo Akatakyie are back on the scene.

Speaking to Docta Kay host of Nkran Kwanso yesterday on Accrafm100.5 made several revelations regarding their music career, Talking of their long absence, the Odo Esisi Me hitmakers said they took time off to see to other stuff and also study the music scene, rebrand and lack of support made them went off the music scene “We didn’t have money so we had issues with producers” that caused all this mess, we did many mistakes when we started and we are rewriting it all over again.

Akatakyie said with all their numerous hits back to back we never made any good money although we were the best selling recording artist on our then record label soul record’s with artistes like of Obour, obrafour among other. The musician believes they have been cheated and Ghanaians hasn’t celebrated them enough for their good works. Talkingbabout royalties the artist said currently they receive less than 200gh a month from Ghambro which they term as ”nkok) sika”.
The duo told Docta Kay that their comeback will shock Ghanaian because they have several equally good song which they are yet to release soon Ghanaians know as for our good music we believe they will love our new songs “we are not signed to any record label so if any one is ready to do business with us we are ready” they added.

On behalf of of class media Mr. Clement Kyeremanteng (Head of Programs) presented a frame to honor Akatakyie for there remarkable works in Ghana music. Their style of music has been the trend many hiplifers has trended on. They’ve had hits like Ghana mmaa, Agoo, Odo esikyire, Sinsima, Esi, Meyare, Masan aba, Oman baapa, Odo ye musu anaa, and Sie sie obaa no featuring Okyeame Kwame among other songs.
The duo musicians emphatically said, “Once you are not dead, you do not know what will come your way so we don’t give up on our dreams”
The visibly excited duo took the opportunity to assure their fans that they are back to stay: “we are bringing them nothing but good music, good videos, good lyrics and the very best of us,” they said.
